Our very best tips

Go surfing right in the heart of Munich – an experience no matter what the season. One of the city’s most unusual and well-known spots.

Perhaps the most beautiful viewing point in the English Garden. From here, you can look out over the treetops to Munich’s Old Town. Particularly beautiful late into the night.

A true Munich classic. Surrounding the 25-metre-high pagoda is one of the city’s largest, most renowned beer gardens – the perfect spot for a classic litre of local beer and a snack under the old chestnut trees.

Our tip for a little outing on the water. Take a stroll around the lake, hire a boat in summer, or stop off at the lakeside café to enjoy the view of the water.

If you’ve got a bit more time, just keep on walking northwards. Beyond the Kleinhesseloher Lake, the English Garden becomes noticeably quieter and reveals its almost rural side.

The Heppel & Ettlich Theatre
A true Schwabing institution. A small-scale theatre, cabaret, concerts and culture – intimate, charming and delightfully imperfect.

The Monopol Cinema
No multiplex, but instead an arthouse cinema. Independent films, special film series and a small bar – perfect for a relaxing evening.

In the footsteps of Schwabing’s bohemian scene
A stroll along Ainmillerstraße and Römerstraße takes you past beautiful Art Nouveau façades and right into the heart of the old artists’ quarter of Kandinsky, Münter & Co.

The Kaisergarten
Fresh, locally-sourced cuisine featuring Bavarian classics, a selection of wines and a relaxed atmosphere with a small beer garden. One of our top tips for a long evening.

The Weinbauer Tavern
A classic Munich locale, right in the heart of Schwabing. Bavarian cuisine, straightforward and hearty.

Bolzanino
A South Tyrolean classic, right in the heart of Schwabing. Traditional Schlutzkrapfen pasta, local dumplings and Italian-inspired dishes meet aperitivo, sharing plates and great drinks. New, vibrant and just a stone’s throw from the English Garden.

Call Soul – Breaking Bar
Creative cocktails and extraordinary drinks. Perfect for anyone looking for something special in the evening.

Wallace Bar
A relaxed bar on Occamstraße, offering great drinks and the perfect starting point for an evening in Schwabing.

Vereinsheim
A bar, stage and Schwabing living room all in one. Concerts, readings, pub quizzes and plenty of unexpected evenings.

The best way to discover Schwabing is without a set plan: wander through the charming side streets, take a detour through the English Garden, and stay wherever you feel like it.

Enjoy the neighborhood.
Enjoy Schwabing.
